PhotoLA 2008
The 17th Annual International Los Angeles Photographic Art Exposition
Held at the Santa Monica Airport, the four day photo-fest ran Thursday, January 10th through Sunday the 13th. The twenty dollar entrance fee wasn’t to hard to swallow, but the ten dollar parking fee was almost too much to bear!
Seeing actual vintage black and white prints from my favorite photographer Henri Cartier Bresson, made the drive from Phoenix worth the trip. The twenty thousand dollar plus price tag attached to them was the most amazing part.
My favorite colorprints were portraits of hardcore middle-aged women bodybuilders by Martin Schoeller. The 90 by 70 inch prints stunningly showed off the musclulature of these women in a graphic and disconcerting way.
